Singapore wants Cambodia to organise tourism fair

Singapore has sought the cooperation of the Tourism Ministry to organise a tourism fair or an exhibition to revive the tourism sector that has been badly affected by the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic

Singapore Ambassador to Cambodia, Ms Teo Lay Cheng made this request when she met the Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon yesterday.

She said there is a need to reopen the travel and tourism industry between the two nations when the time is right by organising a tourism fair or an exhibition.

Ambassador Teo expressed her strong support to have a good bilateral relations and cooperation with Cambodia, including in promoting tourism between the two countries.

Khon, meanwhile, said that Cambodia and Singapore had a good relationship where tourism is concerned before the Covid-19 struck both the nations.

“There has been an increase in tourists plying between the two nations and hopefully it will continue after the pandemic ends,” he added.

He said that the tourism industry has been badly affected globally and even in Cambodia it has slowed down.
